Artera is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our dedicated team, focusing on federal government projects with key clients such as the Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Indian Health Service. This role requires expertise in InterSystems technologies, particularly with ObjectScript, with a commitment to development excellence and reliable client support.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing our federal product suite and IVR solutions. You will work on critical development initiatives, contribute significantly to both current and new projects, and provide mentorship to team members. In this role, you’ll participate actively in team meetings, offer ongoing system support, and resolve technical issues alongside the Client Services team to ensure seamless project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Aptitude: Develop and maintain applications using InterSystems IRIS and ObjectScript, writing efficient, high-quality code that meets stringent project and government requirements.
  • Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide guidance and support to junior developers, fostering a collaborative environment. Engage in regular team meetings, including standups and refinement sessions, to stay aligned on project goals.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Resolve technical issues and offer ongoing support to ensure smooth system operations. Handle on-call duties as needed during business hours to maintain system reliability for government clients.
  • Curiosity and Continuous Improvement: Integrate REST APIs and work on healthcare integrations using ObjectScript. Explore new technologies and methodologies to enhance and expand our product offerings.
  • Product-Minded Approach: Contribute to the IVR and federal product suites with a focus on customer needs and value. Maintain a product-oriented mindset, understanding how various solutions integrate and enhance healthcare accessibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM preferred *additional experience in lieu of a degree is also accepted*
  • 5+ years working with ObjectScript.
  • This role requires a favorable adjudication for a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing and resolving challenges.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and elevate team performance.

Bonus

  • Experience with IVR telephony and React.
  • Existing federal clearance.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs and integrations on InterSystems IRIS, especially HL7 and FHIR.
  • Experience in developing enterprise web applications to improve healthcare service accessibility.
  • Curiosity and a product-focused mindset with an understanding of how various products integrate to enhance accessibility and value.
LOCATION
Artera values in-person collaboration and is currently hiring in the following US cities: Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Bay Area, Kansas City, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia (Wayne).
Artera HQ is in Santa Barbara, CA, with an additional US office located in Philadelphia (Wayne), PA. If you live in the Santa Barbara or Philadelphia area, your role will be hybrid, and you will be expected to work out of your designated office location regularly, following local office guidelines. While three days a week may be a general guideline, the specific requirement will be set regionally based on the needs of the local office and the role.
If you live in one of our other hubs, your role will be remote to start. As our team continues to grow in these cities, Artera will explore opening offices in these locations, but there is currently no timeline in place for that. Once that happens, in-office attendance will similarly follow regional expectations, with flexibility to align with the local office's norms and the specific job requirements.
